Design Specifications
Our barrel aquarium design is usually set upon a half-barrel stand section (seen
opposite), but can be installed without the stand. The stand component is
particularly appropriate in situations where the installation is to be a stand-alone
piece since it provides the additional height required to raise the aquarium to
eye level.
Design Specifications with stand. (Approximations)
Height: 166cm
Width: 73cm
Capacity: 170 litres
An installation without this stand section would be preferable in situations where
the design is to be placed on a raised counter or bench-top. In this
circumstance the design would already sit at eye level providing an up close
and personal view of the aquarium.

Hood and Base Doors
A customised door has been created in the barrel HOOD section of the design
to provide direct access to the tank below for easy fish feeding and tank
maintenance. A second door has also been created in the barrel BASE section
of the design for access to the unit's main equipment storage area where the
aquariums filter, heater and other electrical equipment are housed.
This customised storage set-up ensures that all aquarium equipment and
accessories are concealed from direct view while remaining within easy reach.
(See Installation Diagram Below)
Filtration
Our state of the art filtration system is located within the barrel BASE section’s
main equipment storage area. Here the filter's Inlet and Outlet water tubes
travel up into the tank above through two small openings created in the tank
floor. Inside the tank, these two water tubes facilitate the circulation of water
throughout the aquarium. Gravel, plants and rock conceal these tubes.
(See Installation Diagram Opposite)
This functional, streamlined filtration set-up ensures that an even and adequate
flow of water is cycled through the filter on a continued basis, supporting the
overall health of the aquatic ecosystem.
Lighting
The lighting unit is permanently installed within the barrel HOOD section of the
design so as to adequately illuminate the tank below. This light is connected to
the design's electrical power-board, which is housed within the barrel BASE
section’s main equipment storage area. This connection is achieved by having
the lights electrical cord travel down through the centre of the tank internally via
a centrally positioned watertight tube. Once through this tube the lighting cord is
then able to enter the BASE section and connect to the power-board. (See
Installation Diagram Opposite)
This functional lighting and electrical set-up avoids the unsightly alternative of
having the lighting units electrical cord fall by the side of the aquarium in full
view.
Acrylic Tank
Our cylindrical tanks feature a panoramic 360-degree view of their aquatic
landscape. Each unit is custom moulded from clear 10mm acrylic for maximum
structural strength and viewing clarity.
Compared with most glass tank alternatives Acrylic is known to reveal a broader
range of the full colour spectrum. This is because glass tanks can contain
impurities that can impose a slight tint or hue upon the colours perceived. Since
our acrylic tanks do NOT have these impurities our aquarium designs always
appear naturally vivid and spectacular.
Also, in the unlikely event that a scratch or abrasion occurs to the surface of the
tank, acrylic has the added advantage of being able to be buffed and polished
to remove such marks.
Power Supply
To further streamline the visual appearance of the design the unit's powerboard
cord is the only cord to visibly exit the unit. The cord does so discreetly at
the design’s base, where it travels directly to the nearest power source.
